Hey, I'm me!

Hello! If you're reading this, you've somehow found my website! Welcome. My name is Max Gainor. I'm a Web Design student at Dakota County Technical College. I'm writing this website up for review purposes. Basically, this is being made to see what little I can remember about a previous class, Web Page Construction 1. I'm able to type this out, so I at least seem to have *some* kind of understanding of the process, but we'll see what the finished product actually looks like, yeah? It could easily turn out I'm Jon Snow and I 'know nothing'.

If you know me in real life, you know I have a *lot* of interests. More than I can list here. So what I'm going to do is put it on the 'Hobbies' page, and instead talk about who I am. I've already told you I'm a student at DCTC, but you may not know that I originally came here as part of the TESA program for people with special needs. I have autism, which in effect prevents me from properly socializing with others, among other things. However, I've noticed the effect is lessened if I speak online rather than in person, which is an odd quirk. Probably not healthy to do it all the time, but then again I can't drive a car to meet new people, so it's not that big a deal.

Of course, that also means that I'm urged to step out of my own comfort zone just to be able to socialize with someone every single day. And it feels...for lack of a better term, 'overwhelming'. Like, sure, do I *want* to talk to people? Yes. But I also want the freedom to do it at my own pace, which I feel that my family doesn't understand because I'm worried they'll say it's just me using my autism as an excuse to not socialize if I tell them flat-out. And what makes it more difficult is the fact that not a lot of people share the same interests as I do, which makes it harder to socialize than it needs to be, because I want to have a frank and honest conversation about my interests without having to stop every five seconds to explain a concept to someone. It's part of the reason why I don't go looking into joining a tabletop roleplaying group that *doesn't* do Dungeons and Dragons (that and they don't have more than one or two groups that are like that outside of the Twin Cities proper, but that's just a transportation issue on my part).
