All right, so...I've talked a lot about how I like books. And how many I have on my shelves. What I *haven't* talked about is the fact that I like seeing visual illustrations of what's going on, something that helps give me a better visual idea of what's happening. This is because I very rarely have issues understanding textual descriptions of something, like in a novel how something would be described as 'a beige tile, devoid of all but dust and sorrow'. Another reason is...well, let's face it. Art is a pretty cool medium. And certain artists from across the globe (namely Alex Milne, Geoff Senior, Mark Bagley, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, and many, many others) have all distinguised themselves by the tales they've drawn for (and some cases even written), which is always a plus to me.
Of course, books aren't my only interest. Film and video have always been a major fixture in my life, being a fan of televised and silver screen media as a whole gives me a very wide range of media to choose from. Say, for an example, I go to one of my bookshelves and pick a Blu-Ray off the shelf. I could quite easily watch an anime such as Gundam, Armored Trooper VOTOMS, or City Hunter, but I could also delve deep into the Classic Era of long-running British sci-fi epic (62 years this year) Doctor Who, or watch the best piece of Transformers cinema in the original movie from 1986.
And of course I'm always on the lookout for YouTube videos that entertain me, be they old Achievement Hunter, Vanoss, or Team Four Star videos or newer Valefisk videos (release the Campaign for North Africa video, Vale, I know you have the footage). Sometimes I'll run into a Classic Doctor Who episode that I don't have on Blu-Ray (yet. BBC is slow to remaster and release certain episodes here in the States, *hint hint* Remembrance of the Daleks *hint hint*) such as the serial Spearhead from Space that I'll bulldoze through, or The Faceless Ones that I still can't finish so I can watch The Evil of The Daleks. It's hit-or-miss, but it works quite well for me.
One other thing I've been trying to get into lately is physical tabletop gaming and model kit building. Specifically, I ordered several Gundam kits over the pandemic and never got around to building them (I affectionately named it my 'pile of shame', apparently a lot of Gundam kit builders use this to describe their backlog). I plan to make time to build them whenever I can, but I don't have a dedicated building space.
And of the gaming part, video gaming is of course a big hobby of mine (Team Fortress 2, Star Trek Online, and Master Chief Collection forever), but I'm specifically trying to get into tabletop roleplaying. I have the systems for the Marvel Multiverse series and Essence20 games for Transformers and G.I. Joe (even if I've never played them), but I also intend to reach into othe titles like Cyberpunk Red or predecessor Cyberpunk 2020 (as well as side game Mekton), and even ones I've heard about in memes like Lancer (a mech building game like Mekton but with a lot more comedy involved). This is because I want to challenge myself to get out of the house more often and interact with new people, however I can't find many groups playing those games (curse you Dungeons and Dragons) and I don't know how to drive so it's a moot point anyway.
