Trip to Arizona

Respect natural landmarks
Places like Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend are beautiful but fragile—stick to marked paths and follow local guidelines.

Be mindful of desert wildlife
Watch where you step—snakes, scorpions, and other desert animals are part of the environment, especially at night.

Arizona’s Cacti
Arizona is known for its diverse cacti, especially the iconic Saguaro cactus, which can grow over 40 feet tall and live for more than 150 years. Found mainly around Phoenix and Tucson, these protected plants are a defining feature of the desert landscape and are showcased in Saguaro National Park. Other common cacti include prickly pear, barrel cactus, and cholla, each adapted to survive harsh, dry conditions by storing water and using spines for protection. While beautiful—especially when blooming—cacti should be admired from a distance to avoid injury and to help preserve Arizona’s natural environment.
